We had 13 folks attend last weeks MI QRP chat. The topic of the week was - What rig do use the most for QRP? Jim”s QRP ring was K2. He uses a 41 foot half wave antenna and likes to hunt POTA with it. Stuart showed some photos of his QRP Labs QCX. He uses a tuner and runs on 40 Meters. He has a HB 12 volt power supply. He also showed a really cool 2 valve crystal controlled transmitter. It has a 6V6 and the circuit is from a 1949 book which makes the circuit as old as he is. Dave’s rig is a KX-2 with a bunch of accessaries. He likes the flexibility and the ability to operate all modes including digital. An Eagle One is the antenna on the RV and has had surprising results with the Elecraft AX-1. The KX-2 and AX-1 are easy to transport and power with a Bioenno battery. Stan likes his Xiegu X5105 ultra portable HF+50MHz QRP transceiver. It is small, has good battery life, and he gets good signal reports. Pete had a slide presentation showing his gallery of QRP rigs. He confessed that he is a radio junky. His list included, SDR Cube, K2, KX-2, KX-1, FX-4CR, KH-1, Penntek TR-45, and his latest a Wolf transceiver by UA3REO.
